Turning LEJOG into JOGLE

When, early in 2013, I made my last posting to the blog for my 2012 walk, I wrote:

"And 2013? I really don’t know. I veer between ‘never again’ and ‘wouldn’t it be good to …’. You’ll be the first to know if I decide to do anything like this again. In the meantime I must work off the excesses of the last few days – I may even go for a walk."

Well, it's taken 3 years to move on from that position but I've now committed to a return walk, from John O'Groats to Land End - a JOGLE, in fact (these acronyms are a bit naff, aren't they; but eye-catching, none-the-less.)

The 3 years have been full of indecision. I've toyed with other routes and I came close to getting one of them going in 2014 but the arrangement didn't work out. Probably as well, since Viv and I went from having one grandchild in January of that year to having four by the end of August - not a good time to be on a long-distance walk. And I've made other commitments that keep me occupied, but the itch wouldn't go away. So, despairing that I may be getting close to the point where it would become impossible, I took the plunge, went to talk to Christian Aid and 2016 has, magically, become the year of the JOGLE.

If you’re reading this you’ll have either had a message from my old blog or directly from me and have accessed my new website which is still in the making. Or perhaps you’ve just stumbled across it as you drift around the internet, looking for goodies. Either way, you’ll be able to see what this new walk looks like and what it’s supporting, though the details of this have still to be finalised. But, having made contact, welcome, please stay in touch to find out how it all works out and please tell everyone about it. And remember, one of my greatest pleasures on the 2012 walk was the feedback that I got from my blog, so do join in – I promise to read everything that comes and will, as best I can, respond where appropriate.

Now for the training.
